Ground Zero , "zero level", so it was called the desertic area in New Mexico, where così si indicava l’area desertica del New Mexico where the first nuclear tests were carried out in 1945, and then the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, devastated by the two atomic bombs at the end of World War II. Then, by extension, Ground Zero became the place, on the surface of the earth-marine, perpendicular to the epicentre of an atomic explosion, whether it occurred in the atmosphere, underground or underwater.
Later on the term Ground Zero was used to identify the focal point of the place where a massive explosion occurred, the epicentre of an earthquake or other disaster. [1] [2]
Today, the most famous Ground Zero refers to the area (65,000 square meters) of Manhattan (New York) where the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were built, which collapsed following the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001. Two swimming pools, surrounded by waterfalls, fill the gaps left by the collapse of the Twin Towers. Inside the museum there is a permanent exhibition of personal belongings of the victims, testimonies of the rescuers and areas of meditation. [1] [2]

The Mom project is inspired, in its substance, by the tradition of "memorials" that comes from important events that, in some way, have marked the history of a community. In Italy, those of Ustica and Vajont stand out.
The purpose of a memorial is to preserve the memory of a fact, of an event, through the collection of testimonies, documents, materials,
The virtual memorial of Mom is a web platform in which to collect these testimonies, giving it an organic and coherent narrative form. This collection will take place with the involvement of the protagonists and subjects who in some way have contributed to produce materials and initiatives with a social, cultural, informative or beneficial after the events of August 14, 2018 (articles, videos, books, concerts, etc..).
It will be a direct involvement, where contributors, spontaneous or invited, with their testimony (protagonists, authors, publishers, promoters), and indirect through the mapping of documents already available on the net (stories, images, films) that will be mapped and to which explicit reference will be made.
